I wanted a casual feel to the table, so I chose to not use a tablecloth. Instead, I started with vintage placemats. Wish I could tell you where they came from, but I don't remember! DH thought they came from my family and I thought they came from his! Wherever they came from, I love them and think they are perfect for this table.
Woven charger is from Walmart. It's the same one I use all the time. Yellow plate is dinner plate and white is for salad. There's nothing fancy about the dishes, flatware, or glassware - just my everyday stuff. I just like how all the pieces came together.
Daffodils are the national flower of Wales. Unfortunately, ours aren't up yet so I had to settle for the "long lasting" variety! Ha Ha! I just "planted" them in a glass trifle filled with rocks and stuck the Welsh flag right inside. Can't you just see this same scene in a beautiful garden?
I scattered Welsh books all around the table, including 2 antique books under the flowers.
Hope you enjoyed your special table, Love! I LOVE YOU!!

Very pretty! Nice job, and I love the color combinations. I'm looking forward to seeing your St. Patrick's table, now that I've seen St. Dave's!
Oh how fun! I bet your husband was surprised and so pleased with this table!
Not being Welsh (however, we do live with a corgi) -- I've not heard of St. David's Day. It's a pretty table and I'm sure your DH was pleased -- and now you can have your St. Patrick's Table!
What a sweet surprise. Very creative and lovely!
Great surprise having a St. David's Day! Looks great. Hope he enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.
Great table...what a nice idea to surprise your sweetie! So was Dr. Dave surprised with his St. David's table?
Cute! I love the yellow flowers eith the napkins.
I also had never heard of St. David's Day, which I've since learned is on the first day of March. (I googled it) You've done a smashing job on your tablescape, I'm sure your honey loved it. The daffodils are so sunny and springish. Is that a word?!?!
You've surely set a lovely table. I love the yellow and white combo and plan to use that in april myself. Thank you for such pretty photos and interesting information about St. davids day. I want to also thank you for coming to visit me..
