Here's to a better week!!

It's been a week since I've written anything and let me tell ya - what a week it was! Sheesh! When I got home in the evening, I was so tired - and so full - from work, that I wasn't able to do anything else. Besides, I was worried that once I started typing, everything would come pouring out and that would not be good!

So........ here's to a new week. Yes, most of the issues from last week will carry into this one. Yes, this week will bring issues of it's own. Still, it's a new opportunity and I intend to make the most of it.

Enough chatter - let's get going. Look out Monday - here I come! : )

Finally some garden time!

Sunday was a glorious day!! Sunshine, warm temperatures, and just a little wind. Dr. Dave were finally able to spend some time in the yards and flower beds. It felt so great to have my pruners in hand. I got all but one of the flower beds cleaned out. I was working so hard, I didn't even notice the outcome.......

Dr. Dave asked what happened to my glove because it looked like I had pruned my finger. I tried to assure him that I hadn't pruned my finger - I already had a hole in my glove. He kept asking me why I didn't know the difference between my right thumb and the first finger on my left hand. I just laughed until I looked down at my hand!! I HAD cut through my glove!!

Soooooooo..........the next person who tells me it's gonna snow again this week had better watch out!! I'm lethal!

First day of Spring?!?

OK, so the last 2 days have been beautiful.....in the 70's with a light wind. Well, today - THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING - we woke up to an inch of snow!! WHAT?!?

I guess instead of working in my flower beds, I'll just take a nap!

Good Night!

St. Patrick's Day Table

Told ya I'd post my St. Patrick's Day table. Here goes.....

This delightful little leprechaun welcomes you to our table, but don't try to steal his gold!

I started with a runner of greens, browns, and yellow. Rattan chargers form the base for each place setting. I put my light green plates on the side places and the yellow plates at both ends. Each place has a white bowl on top.

Dark green napkins are rolled up and placed in a white napkin ring. A tiny leprechaun hat sits right on top.

This is the same centerpiece I used for St. David's Day. I just replaced the Wales flag with this little guy. I think it looks great for both occasions.

Well, that's all for today. Time to start thinking about Easter. It's just a hop away!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I've never really decorated for St. Pat's Day, so I decided to give it a try this year. It was so much fun, I think I'll do it again next year!

Let's start at the front door - WELCOME! ;-)

Just some simple carnations from Dollar Tree. Put them in a white milk glass compote, add some gold coins and a St. Patty's Day ribbon and voila - instant decoration!

This is a delicious smelling candle. Can you smell the sweet pear through your computer?? I just stuck some shamrocks all around it. Easy peasy - you'll see this candle again during Easter......minus the "stickums".

More carnations from Dollar Tree. I think they look great in this apothecary jar. Simple scrapbook paper in a frame helps fill in the vignette.

Have I told you before how much I LOVE my Cricut?!?

Even the Guest Bathroom got a special St. Pat's Day touch!!

That completes our tour. Thanks for stopping by!!

P.S. Come back on Thursday for Tablescape Thursday. I'll have some more festive decorations!

An almost clean and organized garage!!

Well, no before-after pictures today. Dr. Dave says, "no pictures of my garage on your blog. It's for your table stuff." Ha Ha. He wasn't mad - just talking. It was kinda funny, actually.

One of our goals for 2010 was to clean and organize our garage. It wasn't "hoarding" terrible, but it had gotten pretty junky. The weather has been so cold and rainy that today was really our first time to get out there. Unfortunately, we live directly behind a field and across the street from a golf course, so a mouse (or maybe 2) had taken up residence in the garage - uninvited I must say!! YUCK! What a mess! It sure felt good to get all that mess cleaned up.

All my holiday decorations are neatly stored in plastic tubs. All of Frank's stuff is stored in the attic. The golf clubs and accoutrement are stored in their rack. Packing paper and bubble wrap is in the attic. We made major progress!!

Dr. Dave was even lucky enough to get his truck in - at least for a few minutes! There's still too much stuff along the sides for us to get both of our vehicles in at the same time. Guess that project will have to wait for another day.

Happy St. David's Day!

I've been waiting for this week to roll around!! Dr. Dave is a proud Welshman and I have planned for weeks to surprise him with a St. David's Day table. It worked! He had gone "shopping" with me several times when I would talk about St. Patrick's Day and he would make comments that I'd better not make a St. Patrick's Day table without doing a St. David's Day one. I would just laugh it off, all the while secretly scheming!! What fun I had!

I wanted a casual feel to the table, so I chose to not use a tablecloth. Instead, I started with vintage placemats. Wish I could tell you where they came from, but I don't remember! DH thought they came from my family and I thought they came from his! Wherever they came from, I love them and think they are perfect for this table.

Woven charger is from Walmart. It's the same one I use all the time. Yellow plate is dinner plate and white is for salad. There's nothing fancy about the dishes, flatware, or glassware - just my everyday stuff. I just like how all the pieces came together.

Daffodils are the national flower of Wales. Unfortunately, ours aren't up yet so I had to settle for the "long lasting" variety! Ha Ha! I just "planted" them in a glass trifle filled with rocks and stuck the Welsh flag right inside. Can't you just see this same scene in a beautiful garden?

I scattered Welsh books all around the table, including 2 antique books under the flowers.

Hope you enjoyed your special table, Love! I LOVE YOU!!

Beach Party

Since the weather has been so yucky this winter, Dr. Dave and I decided to throw the staff a special Beach Party! We had so much gathering and shopping! I really think we had more fun than everyone else had!

We served Starbursts, Pixie Sticks, Goldfish, cookies, Sun Chips, Capri Suns - lots of "sunny" food!
